The hosting question (addon domains) …

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008 | Other

Not so long ago, I was wondering if there was a way to shorter the number of different hosting accounts I had. In fact, each time that I was developping a website, I was subscribing a new hosting account for it at GoDaddy… Well, that was a mistake.

But how to be able to develop as many websites as I want with only one hosting account ?

I finally decided to ask the question in the excellent forum NamePros and I got my answer :

Some hosting companies accept to divide your allowed space in as many little parts as you want and setup a domain name for each of them ; an addon domain. Then, your small websites don’t need 1Go of wasted space that you will never use.

I personnally chosen HostGator. They are cheap and the service is very good. I moved all my little websites to Hostgator by setting up addon domains and canceled all the hosting accounts at GoDaddy. That’s a lot of money saved !

Plus, with this coupon : iceishot ; you will get your first month at 0.01 $ for give it a try !

Yeah, I use HostGator as well for my Addon Domains. I run 20+ sites and that would be a lot of FTP/CPanel without Addon domains. *cringe*

Or you can save yourself a huge hassle in the future and buy a cheap reseller account and create a cPanel account for each of your domains/sites under one WHM account. It will make things a hell of a lot easier when you decide to move/sell a domain/site.
